The Distant Relatives Project Vacation - Jamaica

Please help us in our joint effort to ensure children in Jamaica are prepared for school, and can learn in a positive atmosphere. With your help, we will be able start the renovation of the school’s classrooms and begin to create a positive learning environment that encourages students to want to learn. With $5000, we will be able to renovate the floors and the walls of the classrooms, and provide essential resources to accommodate the number of students in the school.

The socioeconomic status range within the community and it is safe to say that not all students are receiving an equal opportunity. Shackelia Jackson is a Human Rights defender based in New York. Originally from Jamaica, she often travels to the island to assist in the development of the youth and their educational system. The Distant Relative Project is teaming up with Shackelia Jackson  to influence the academia in a  struggling school system. Our ultimate goal is to infuse an international standard learning curriculum that encourages STEM, and also the  supplication of modern  technology. Students at Central Branch do not have access to basic technology that will soon overtake todays world. The Distant Relatives team will be traveling to Kingston, Jamaica on August 23rd, 2018. While there, we will spend the day with the students  to empower the youth and help them develop essential technical skills. We will also assist in the cleaning and renovation of the entire campus.

Distant Relatives has committed to purchasing supplies for the students, as well as help raise money for the renovation of the school. We will be donating 2,000+ pens, 2000+ pencils, 1000 composition books, Crayons/Colored Pencils/Markers, Folders, and Android Tablets for students who excel beyond the standard. This gift is used as a symbol to remind the students that hard work will be rewarded. Because of the high cost of customs and shipping, we must be selective of the resources we can send. Because of the high cost of customs and shipping, we must be selective of the resources we can transport. With your help, we will be able to send more computers and resources to the students of Central Brach All Age School.

While we have accomplished much on our own, we know the need is great and are asking you to support our mission to inpsire and create opportunity for children who are facing extreme challenges in their education. We are asking for your help to provide access to learning resources and equipment that will assist in the students fundamental development. Over the course of the next five years, we would like to see Central Branch All Age School being recognized as one of the top learning institutions in Jamaica.

All contributions are tax deductibe as we are registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Thank you for your continuous support and please stay tuned to witness the impact that your gift will have on the lives of many.
