Providing a helping hand
The Mission
Although there are 34 patients living on-site, Felege also supports 240 households in the immediate community with groceries and school supplies. In exchange, young adults from these families will volunteer at the facility, washing clothes, bathing elderly, cooking and working with Sister Meron to provide medical assistance. Some of the items that are needed include: cleaning and medical supplies, gloves, sanitary wipes, hand sanitizers, masks, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen. Over the next 4 weeks, we’ll be conducting donation drives here in Washington, DC. The Distant Relatives Project’s goal is to build a sustainable and long-lasting relationship with Felege, as we have done with schools, hospitals and organizations in Ghana, Jamaica and Nigeria. Our ultimate goal is to develop this community to the point of self-sustainability. Click the Amazon link below and purchase an item to make a difference! All items purchased from our wishlist will be delivered directly to the Distant Relatives Project headquarters.
